Maloumian Traditional Rugs cleans all of our client’s Traditional and Contemporary area rugs utilizing the Makoor method. With Makoor there are no machines, no harsh soaps or chemicals that could risk ruining your treasured carpet. Each carpet is hand-cleaned by our trained staff and air-dried on a special rack. Your carpet is gently toweled dry by hand instead of going into hot oven driers used by commercial rug cleaners.

Traditional Rug Cleaning
We recommended having your rug cleaned every 3-5 years.
If you have a rug in high traffic area you may consider a yearly cleaning. It is very easy to determine if your traditional rug needs cleaning.
Pick up a corner of the rug and drop it to the floor. If a cloud of dust appears the rug is dirty and needs cleaning.
Rub the pile of the rug vigorously with your hand in a semi-circular motion. If your fingers or palm is dirty your rug needs cleaning.
Look down into the base of the pile at the foundation of the rug. If the warp and weft look dirty then you must have your rug cleaned. When a rug reaches this stage you run the risk of causing damage to the foundation of the rug. The dirt settles into the knotting and foundation and acts like sandpaper wearing away the rug.

Repair and restoration of traditional rugs demands a far greater level of skills than the original weaving. Maloumian Traditional Rugs provides exceptional advice concerning restoration and our old world craftsmen perform all restoration and repair work.
